Mercy in motion
Jesuitenmission is the international development and mission organisation of the German Jesuits. We support around 600 projects on poverty reduction, aid to refugees, education, health, ecology, human rights and pastoral care.
In addition to school projects from Kosovo to Zimbabwe, we are involved with JRS in a campaign called ‘Mercy in Motion’ for providing education in crisis areas. Through the sale of notebooks designed by refugee children plus other donations, we aim to generate funds for 100,000 school and training places for refugees worldwide by 2020.
We respond to humanitarian disasters in close cooperation with local project partners, and with the Xavier Network. Recent examples include the earthquake in Nepal, famine in Zimbabwe and Hurricane Matthew in Haiti.
Under the highly successful Jesuit Volunteers program, together with our sister agencies in Austria and Switzerland, 25-30 young people are placed every year with project partners around the world, getting involved with many aspects of field work and experiencing local culture at first hand.
