Our vision is a just and humane world based on Gospel values and Ignatian spirituality
Irish Jesuits International (formerly Jesuit Missions Ireland) was founded in 1945 with the twin priorities of international development and support for Irish Jesuit missionaries in the field.
Our key partners include international organisations such as JRS Middle East, JRS Africa and the Xavier Network, as well as the Jesuit provinces of East Africa, Zambia and Malawi, Cambodia and China.
Our overseas work has four key areas: access to education, human rights, good health and income-generating opportunities. We also respond to emergencies, most recently by assisting people displaced by conflict in South Sudan and Syria.
At home, our Education for Justice programme supports Jesuit secondary schools as they embed the concept of justice throughout school life. We raise awareness and promote action around issues affecting migrants and refugees both in Ireland and globally, and we work to address social inequality at home and abroad. We have regular overseas volunteer placements.
“When you ask the young people here, ‘What do you want to do?’, they are full of dreams.”
